Why Your Next Trailer Should be a Hybrid

Jan. 29 2019 Miscellaneous By Camp-Out RV

For a long time, a tent trailer was the entry level travel trailer for those getting into the lifestyle.  They take a bit of setup, but their lightweight and compact size were very appealing to those who do not like towing heavy (or cannot).

Then a new style of trailer came to the market - Expandable Hybrid Trailers!  The appeal of a Hybrid trailer was to take the best aspects of a tent trailer and the best aspects of a travel trailer and put them together to make a very versatile camping option.  It is a great entry level trailer for those looking to get into the lifestyle, and is also a great option for seasoned RVers because all they have to offer!

So here are our 5 reasons for choosing a Hybrid as your next (or entry) Trailer

1. Hybrids are Very Easy to Setup

When comparing to a travel trailer, the only additional setup for a hybrid is to unclip the bed end latches and set it down.  The opening of the bed ends will take a total of about 2 minutes to your setup process making this step very quick.  The closing of the bed ends is equally as quick and effortless.  When comparing to a tent trailer, this setup is much faster!

2. Hybrids Provide Much More Storage Than Tent Trailers

Compared to a tent trailer, a Hybrid has A TON more storage.  Since it is a solid trailer frame, there will be plenty of storage inside the trailer as well as outside.  The benefit of this storage too is that it is fully accessible while travelling if access is needed.

3. Hybrids are Very Lightweight

A 20ft fiberglass travel trailer will weight around 4,000lbs.  A 14ft Hybrid trailer will weight around 3,000lbs.  But wait, the 20ft travel trailer is 6ft bigger, that doesn't make sense?  If you think about it, a 14ft hybrid is the floor space of the trailer that does not include the Hybrid beds. When your bed ends are out, your actual floor space will grow with the 2 beds so it really is more like a 20ft travel trailer - just 1,000lbs lighter.

4. You Still Get The Canvas Tenting Experience

A Hybrid still lets you feel like you are sleeping under the stars with your bed surrounded by canvas.  You can still feel the breeze while you sleep and hear all the sounds of the wild.

5. Your Hybrid Will Have a Travel Trailer Floor plan

Hybrids are becoming increasingly diverse with the available floor plans.  There are single, double and triple bed end styles, hybrids with slides, dinettes, couches, full washrooms, full size fridges and stoves...the list goes on and on.

So there you have it, but don't take our word for it, come by our Field of Dreams to see for yourself why Hybrid Travel Trailers are so great!
